FINAL OUTCOME CARD — A1
YOU ACT LATE, BUT YOU ACT. The disease may already have entered, yet closing the port and limiting contact can still reduce how quickly it spreads.
HISTORY REVEAL: THE BLACK DEATH
A deadly disease began spreading between cities through travel and trade. Nobody understood germs or exactly how the disease spread. Most places continued allowing people, ships and goods to travel because trade was necessary for food and money. The disease spread across Europe and killed millions. Later, some cities began keeping travelers and ships separated for a period of time—an early form of quarantine.
DEBATE: Was this outcome avoidable? What choice would you defend now that you know the history?
