HISTORY REVEAL: FRANCE — THE FRENCH REVOLUTION

France was almost out of money. Poor people already paid many taxes, while wealthy nobles and church leaders had major tax privileges. King Louis XVI struggled to make the wealthy pay more and eventually called a huge government meeting. Instead, people began demanding bigger changes and more rights. The French Revolution began in 1789, the monarchy eventually fell, and Louis XVI was executed.
